William Thomas (otherwise William Roberts) in the parish of Kerry on 19 December 1779 broke into the dwelling house of John Griffiths and stole 1 brown woollen cloth coat (value 20/-); 1 brown woollen cloth waistcoat (value 10/-); 2 hempen shirts (value 2/6) and 2 razors (value 6d) the property of Lewis Evans (WALES 4/191/7).   Shrewsbury Chronicle Saturday 29 April "On Wednesday last at Montgomery,  ------ Roberts was hanged for housebreaking.
